Our Founders
CeWeb Corsortium is a new venture founded by three Central European companies with aggregate annual revenues in excess of $280 million.
Műszertechnika, founded in 1982, sold PCs in the early 1980s, and by now has grown into a significant, diversified information technology and electronics holding. Its main activities today include computer hardware and office equipment distribution, provision of networking solutions, system consultation and Internet development. Besides maintaining a dominant presence in Hungary, the company also has a substantial retail stores network in the neighboring countries.
The company currently has some 1,000 employees and an annual turnover of around USD 80 million.
Videoton, headquartered in Székesfehérvár, Eastern Europe's most dynamic industrial center located west of Budapest, started out in the late 1930s and soon became the leading industrial company of Hungary. After decades of success in the field of consumer electronics production, it has by now repositioned itself as a major player in the field of EMS (Electronic Manufacturing Services). Its multinational partners include IBM, Philips, Matsushita, Sony, Kenwood, Valeo, Siemens and ABB. To increase its regional presence, the company last year purchased the largest Bulgarian electronics company, DZU. Videoton currently has more than 17,000 employees and an annual turnover of more than USD 200 million.
Gamax was founded in 1990 by a group of software engineers. The company provides manpower to IT projects in Western Europe and America.
Gamax has also been successful in the software localization business. Three years ago the company established a joint venture with the Irish localization house ITP, and today localization services are provided with the best know-how currently available to many a big name in the software and hardware industries, including Microsoft, Novell, Corel, Oracle, HP, Lexmark, Motorola and Nokia. As a result of an expansion in the language department, localization services are now provided in eight Central European languages.
The company now has around 100 full-time employees, while translations are mainly done by freelancers. Annual turnover exceeds USD 7 million.
